Pure India: Espresso No. 5 from Firstcrack Roasters in Berlin combines two top Indian varieties in equal parts. Washed Arabicas of the S795 variety make up 50%, while the other half consists of Canephoras of the SLN9 variety. These designations indicate special disease-resistant hybrids. For example, S795 Arabicas are especially resistant to leaf rust. Both varieties used in this espresso blend are natural anaerobically processed and come from EKATA and the Yellikodige Coffee Estate in Karnataka. The medium-dark city roast perfectly brings out the complex nougat-like notes, with the flavor profile dominated by plenty of pure chocolate. The cup profile is powerful and full-bodied, with a dense, rich crema. Espresso No. 5 has enough intensity to stand out in milk-based drinks or plant-based alternatives. For the adventurous, it can also be brewed directly in a portafilter, fully automatic machine, or moka pot. The package contains 250 grams, delivered in flavor-safe packaging.
